How to knit a Lace Stitch:
Work with a multiple of 12 stitches + 1 + 2 edge stitches.
Cast on 27 stitches (6 + 12 + 7 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to chart.
The chart shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, purl all stitches and the yarn overs.
The pattern repeat is 12 stitches wide.
Begin with 1 edge stitch and 6 stitches before the pattern repeat, work the pattern repeat throughout, end with 7 stitches after the pattern repeat and 1 edge stitch.
Abbreviation:
k: knit stitch
yo: yarn over
k2tog: knit 2 stitches together as one
skpo: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch
sk2p: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 2 together and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted together stitches
cdd (Central Double Decrease): slip first and second stitches together as if to knit, knit 1 stitch, pass two slipped stitches over the knit stitch

Row 1 (right side): edge stitch, k2tog, k4, yo, * k1, yo, k4, cdd, k4, yo *; repeat from * to *; k1, yo, k4, skpo, edge stitch.
Row 2 and all even-numbered rows (wrong side): purl all stitches and the yarn overs.
Row 3: edge stitch, k2tog, k3, yo, k1, * k2, yo, k3, cdd, k3, yo, k1 *; repeat from * to *; k2, yo, k3, skpo, edge stitch.
Row 5: edge stitch, k2tog, k2, yo, k2, * yo, skpo, k1, yo, k2, cdd, k2, yo, k2 *; repeat from * to *; yo, skpo, k1, yo, k2, skpo, edge stitch.
